I have been busy. Very busy. And quite happy because the sewing machine keeps sewing and I have been cranking out the Halloween goodies.
Lucy and Maggie have new skirts for Halloween AND for watching the Bengals have their best season in years. Lucy also has a cute little cape so that she can be a princess. I used the very wonderful Edith Twirl Skirt Pattern from Jona G. at Fabritopia.
Ethan, who is just settling into his new home on the farm, requested a dinosaur/dragon costume. He even sent me a link to a McCall's pattern and insisted on having it be blue and blue. The front has a zipper and a velcroed "chest" resembling a catcher's padding. As usual, I had to make a few changes to the pattern. I turned the attached hand mitts into individual mittens and made the spiny scales a lot larger. I am not really a pattern follower and prefer to draft my own but, I learn something new every time I use a commercial pattern.
This is Ethan's new "Diego" vest. I had a lot of fun working on this and tried my hand at an Alabama Chenin look with the palm tree. It is no fun sewing if you do not have fun while stitching. I promise to show more vests and plan to create a Granny Tutorial for more pretend play ensembles.
I am now off to the sewing room to finish eight super therapist capes for my daughter and her friends. There's a reason her patients love her.
Two year old Lucy's portrait of her mother. She has a great sense of composition.
And so do I.
Oh heck!! I LOVE those skirts! What great fabrics! You did a fabulous job!
